To the Stop Sign!

The last few days have been simply delightful in terms of the weather here in Baton Rouge. L-O-W humidity. Love it. Tonight, while Brad was mowing the lawn, AC and I played outside.
First she drove her car:

A parade of one: (not sure who she is waiving to as I was the only one around and clearly, I'm standing in front of her, taking the picture)
She loves her little tricycle
Look at that determination!
She wanted to ride all the way to the stop sign. Of course would this child pick the stop sign that is a mere 3 houses from ours? Ummm...no. She made it her goal to ride to the stop sign that is 14 houses from ours....not that I was counting or anything.
I was hoping to have one last picture to post - one that showed her standing in front of our house next to her tricycle to celebrate the fact that she rode all the way home from said stop sign; however, she gave out and Momma here ended up carrying the tricycle back home. Nice.

Gymboree Play & Music

This morning, Anna Claire and I went to a little boy's birthday party at Gymboree Play & Music. I had heard about this place, but we've never been. Anna Claire had a blast! She did better with the structured activities than with the free play (a bit overwhelming to her).

Anna Claire kept the party hat on for the entire time they ate, which is a miracle because the girl likes nothing fitted on her head. When we got in the car, she informed me that she liked that hat and for her birthday, she wants Hannah Tanna hats for her friends.
Later this afternoon, we went back to Gymboree to buy the bubble blower that was used during the party. This toy is greatness. 9000 bubbles greatness. Sophie (our miniature dachshund) wasn't too sure of all the bubbles dancing around our yard!

Baby Day

Today was Baby Day at our church. A time to celebrate all the little ones and their families. We had a parade at the beginning of service, and as each child walked through with his/her parents, pictures were up on the screen of that child and an announcer told a little something about each child. It's a fun time. AC was pumped about the parade part because she got to ride in a wagon in the sanctuary! Ha.
Back at Christmas, some friends gave Anna Claire this beauitful dress. She hasn't had an opportunity to wear it, and today seemed as good of a day as any. She was delighted to wear this "fancy dress" that it's all she has talked about for the last couple of days.

Hannah Tanna

Anna Claire has a new love....Hannah Montanna (or Hannah Tanna as she calls her). She loves the TV show, the music, the merchandise.
Which brings me to this....last week, we started a reward chart for Anna Claire. It was simple. Three things she needed to work on: letting Mom or Dad brush her teeth without drama, no fits when told "no", and going to bed by herself. Each action, when completed a certain number of times, resulted in a reward. Easy. Her rewards were a sno cone, a trip to the party store, and a trip to Target. The girl loves her some shopping! One of the items that she selected when she earned the trip to the party store was a Hannah Tanna cup.
Last night, as we were leaving the house to run some errands, Anna Claire said, "Mom, take my picture by the bunnies!" Music to my ears...a child requesting a picture.
And then we got in the car and she said, "Mom, take a picture of me reading this book!" Such a ham.

From the phone...

I have several pictures from my cell phone that I keep meaning to put on the blog. I update them on Facebook because I can do so from my phone. I probably can update them to this blog also, but I don't know how. Anway....here's a random collection of cell phone pics from this summer:
AC at General Assembly in Orlando
AC playing at Barnes and Noble. She makes herself at home. Notice the flip flops under the train table. Classy.
AC helping us shop for a back to school event at our church
AC wearing Mrs. Sharon's reading glasses
AC's new backpack
AC wearing gloves in the church nursery because Mu-Pu (her imaginary friend) had a dirty diaper that needed changing.

Back to School

Today was Anna Claire's first day of school. She thought she was big stuff walking past the baby/toddler classrooms to her "big girl class" down the hall. Brad and I can't wait to pick her up this afternoon to hear all about it! She was most excited about getting to eat in the lunchroom and playing on the big kid playground.
Here she is at the house this morning...

And in her classroom...

Brandee, Bows, and Back to School

On Wednesday, my dear friend, Brandee, came to visit! We always have fun even if we don't have something big planned.
Thanks to Gigi and Lindsay, I think it's safe to say we are set in the bow department! I finally got them all on ribbon hangers, and now I just have to find a place to hang them.
This morning, I took Anna Claire to "Meet the Teacher" at her school. She is still at BUMPS, but this year, she is in a transition class. Basically, since her b-day is in October, she misses the cut-off for the 3 year old preschool class, so they made a class for all the kids who fall into that category. She has 9 kids in her class, and she will go 5 days a week. We don't have to send a lunch because she will eat in the lunchroom, and she will go to Chapel, Music, and Stretch 'n Grow (P.E.) each week. This baby is growing up!

Movie Night, Camp, and Nursery Fun

For the four people that read this blog, I apologize that you've had to look at Anna Claire's janitor pose for way too long! Thankfully, summer is winding down.
A while back, we took Anna Claire to see the movie UP, and she loved it, but she is still a little too young to sit through an entire movie. Every time we pass a movie theater, she asks if we can see another movie soon. I asked her what she liked so much about going to the movie, and she said, "Popcorn, Sprite, and that pink thing (read: fruit roll up)." Brad piped in with, "We can have movie night at home with all those things!" AC was captivated. We went to Wal-Mart, bought said supplies, and headed to the house. We moved the coffee table to another room, set up a couple of air mattress, popped the popcorn, and got ourselves all situated to watch Charlotte's Web. And we did. For 15 minutes. Anna Claire then decided that she really wanted to watch Cars, so we switched movies and watched Cars. For 15 minutes. At which point, AC fell asleep. We ended up camping out in the living room that night as well.
Last Monday, I went with 14 kids and 4 adults to church camp! We had a great week in Pineville, LA. Brad and Anna Claire held down the fort just fine! This was the first time I had been away from both of them at the same time. I'm happy to report that Anna Claire made it to school every day fully dressed and with a bow in her hair! Way to go, Super Dad! They had a fun week together! I had the camera with me, so there are no pictures of Anna Clarie from last week.
This past Sunday night, I helped in the nursery. And while this picture may speak otherwise, I had complete control. Promise.
Gigi - this picture is for you. I'll get a copy in the mail to you ASAP.
